Additional content

The embassy also issues or confirms certain certificates, such as

  • annual proof-of-life certificates for pension purposes (Lebensbescheinigung)
  • or border crossing certificates (Grenzübertrittsbescheinigung).

To register, please use this link.

For other attestations, please contact the German embassy before registering, as there may be individual questions to clarify.

When certifying a signature (Unterschriftsbeglaubigung), the consular officer confirms that you have personally signed in front of the Embassy on a document.

Please bring the document and an identity card or passport with you to the appointment.

Certified copies are only available for German documents. The original document and the corresponding copy must be presented at the appointment. Certifications are only carried out to a reasonable extent.

Certfications are subject to a fee. The fees of 17.000 FCFA per certified copy or 39.500 FCFA per certified signature must be paid in cash and with exact change.

Please book your appointment for a certification via this link.

Certified copies of foreign (including Cameroonian) documents are not possible at the German Embassy. Cameroonian documents cannot be recognised without further ado due to the unreliable document system. The legalisation procedure is suspended.

Although the certified copy of a foreign document does not constitute a confirmation of the authenticity of this document, it is often perceived as such by the final recipient. The German Embassy can therefore regularly not certify copies of foreign documents in order to avoid a false legal appearance.

Please note that the German embassy is not responsible for applying for and issuing certificates of good conduct (Führungszeugnis).

All relevant information can be found on the website of the Federal Office of Justice (Bundesamt für Justiz - BfJ).

However, your signature must be certified by a German authority when applying. You can therefore register for an appointment for signature certification at the German embassy.

Please bring the following documents to your appointment:

  • the completed (but not yet signed) application form,
  • your identification document, and
  • the corresponding fee for a signature certification/notarisation (39.500,00 XAF) in cash and exact amount.

During a notarisation, the consular officer prepares the desired document, advises you on the legal consequences during the appointment, and reads the document, which you then approve and sign. Not every requested notarization can be performed at the embassy.

If you require a notarization, please contact us via our contact form. It is not necessary to book an appointment through the appointment tool; the appointment will be arranged with you via email. You may also be contacted by phone to clarify any questions.

Please note that the German embassy will never ask you to pay fees over the phone. You will receive an official receipt for every payment.

To request a certificate for closing a blocked account (Sperrkontoschließung/-freigabe), please contact us via email at konsularservice@jaun.auswaertiges-amt.de or through the contact form, using the subject line “Schließung Sperrkonto”.

Please make sure to include the following documents as scans:

  • Passport and
  • Sperrkontobestätigung (blocked account confirmation)

Important! The certificate cannot be granted if you are on the waiting list in the Auslandsportal (Consular Services Portal). You must first delete your application there before contacting the embassy. If you have filed a remonstration regarding a rejected visa, you must also explicitly withdraw the remonstration with the embassy first. As long as the remonstration has not been finalized, the Sperrkontoschließung/-freigabe cannot be processed.
