Checklist- Visa for family reunion (spouses/fiancé)
Jurisdiction
The German Embassy in Yaounde is in charge of your application if your usual domicile is in Cameroon, in Chad, in the Central African Republic, in Equatorial Guinea, São Tomé and Príncipe or in Gabon. The German Embassy in Yaounde therefore has jurisdiction if you are resident in one of these countries.
Required documents
Original with two photocopies
Originals will be returned at the end of the procedure.
Following documents must be presented. Please mark with a cross which documents you present.
⬜ Filled-out and signed application form (long term)
⬜ Information pursuant to Section 54 (2) No.8 AufenthG (signed)
⬜ Two recent passport photos (colored, light background, standard size 35x45 mm). One glued to the form and the other attached with a clip.
⬜ Signed Passport (issued in the last 10 years, with at least two empty pages) and ID Card
⬜ Previous passports (valid and already expired)
⬜ Residence permit for the jurisdiction of the Embassy (if existent)
⬜ Birth certificate (and judgement if existent)
⬜ For family reunion (Spouse): Marriage certificate
⬜ For family reunion (Fiancé): Registration of intended marriage (“Anmeldung zur Eheschließung”) from a German registry (Standesamt) – please note that the visa application cannot be processed unless this document is presented!
⬜ For fiancés: Letter of sponsorship (Verpflichtungserklärung) with the note “proved” (Bonität nachgewiesen)
⬜ In case you or your spouse were married before: divorce decrees from previous marriages
⬜ Previous residence permit (if you have already lived in Germany before)
⬜ Photocopy of the spouses passport + photocopies of Cameroonian entry visa and according entry and exit stamp, if applicable
⬜ If the spouse does not have German citizenship: Photocopy of German residence permit
⬜ If the spouse does have German citizenship: naturalization certificate (“Einbürgerungsurkunde”)
⬜ Proof of residence of the spouse living in Germany (“Meldebescheinigung”)
⬜ Proof of basic knowledge of the German language (“Deutsch A1”)
⬜ Your file for the verification of Identity with fees and filled-out questionnaire
Important: Due to common irregularities and inconsistencies the Federal Foreign Office has suspended the legalization of Cameroonian documents. If someone is planning a long-term stay in Germany, the Embassy will therefore need to verify the identity. Please visit our website www.jaunde.diplo.de for further information.
The Embassy reserves the right to request other documents than those indicated above.
However, please do not hand in or send any documents without being asked to do so. Unrequested documents or documents sent by e-mail or post cannot be considered.
All documents written in languages other than German, English and French must be translated into German.
Please make sure that your application documents are complete. Incomplete applications may lead to a rejection of your visa application.
