Jurisdiction


The consular jurisdiction of the German Embassy in Yaounde covers Cameroon, Chad, the Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Sao Tome and Principe and Gabon. The German Embassy in Yaounde is therefor in charge of your application if you have your usual domicile in one of the above-mentioned countries.

Required documents

The following documents must be submitted in the original plus a copy of all originals. The documents must be sorted into two folders:

  1. Folder: Original documents
  2. Folder: Copies of all original documents (front and back)

Do not staple the pages and documents or join them in any other way!

Original documents submitted will be returned once the submission of the application has been completed. Please note the information on the General Data Protection Regulation.

Checklist for a visa demand for study purposes

  1. Fees: Applicants under 18 years of age: 25,000 XAF, over 18 years of age: 50,000 XAF. Applicants with a scholarship from public funds: free of charge.
  2. Visa application form: Printed visa application form: VIDEX - Long-term stay, signed by the applicant.
  3. Passport photos: A current passport photo, size 35 x 45 mm, biometric (face taken from the front), not retouched, eyes not covered, background in one colour (see photo sample table).
  4. Passport: Valid, signed, valid for at least three months, at least two blank pages, copy of the data page and all pages with visas and entries / stamps, copies of old passports with visas, copies of old residence permits in Germany.
  5. Carte d'Identité Cameroon: CNI or proof of CNI, foreigners in Cameroon: Cameroonian residence permit.
  6. Birth certificate: Original birth certificate (no duplicates: applications without originals cannot be processed) and original court judgement (Grosse and Certificat de non Appel) if the birth certificate was issued on the basis of a judgement.
  7. Birth certificate (children of the applicant): Original birth certificate (no duplicates: applications without originals cannot be processed) and original court judgement (Grosse and Certificat de non Appel) if the birth certificate was issued on the basis of a judgement.
  8. Admission to an university: Current letter of admission to study at a German university, current certificate of enrolment from a German university or current letter of admission to a DSH language course with subsequent studies at a German university.
    If you are attending a language course in Germany, the corresponding confirmation from the language school must be submitted. Information on the admission to a German university.
  9. Proof of qualifications - school education: School leaving certificates (O-Level and A-Level), training certificates and university transcripts. Please see our note on proof of language proficiency. Information on necessary language certificates.
  10. Proof of qualifications - personal: Curriculum vitae in tabular form in German (maximum one page), letter of motivation in German (maximum one page), proof of further studies, internships, employment.
  11. Proof of means of subsistence: proof of financing (e.g. blocked account, declaration of commitment, §§ 66 to 68a AufenthG). Information on proof of financing for your studies.
  12. Additional documents for visa applications for minors: Necessary documents for applicants under 18 years of age:
    1. Signatures of both parents/guardians on the visa application form
    2. Identity documents of both parents/guardians: copy of passport data page or Carte d'Identité Cameroon.
    3. Declaration of authorisation from both parents/legal guardians: Declaration of authorisation signed by both parents/legal guardians in German or English, which
      1. authorises the applicant to travel to Germany to study,
      2. authorises the applicant to withdraw money from the blocked account in Germany
      3. and has been notarised by an official authority in Germany or abroad by a German diplomatic mission.
  13. Health insurance: Incoming health insurance from a German provider with unlimited cover and a general validity period of at least two months.
    If a language course and language examination are completed in Germany before commencing studies, the health insurance must be valid for at least one year. Proof must be presented at the latest when requested by the embassy.
