General Information

Dear Sir or Madam,

thank you for your enquiry to the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Yaounde. Please read the following information thoroughly!

At present, the Embassy is receiving a large number of enquiries. In the following we have summarised the answers to the most frequently asked questions. If the information you have requested is answered on our homepage, you will not receive any further reply.

Please note that enquiries without a reference number cannot be answered. If you do not have a reference number, please state this in your request.

Please also note that documents submitted prior to application cannot be saved for data protection reasons and cannot be added to an application submitted later. All application documents must be submitted by the applicant at the time of application. For data protection reasons, personal information cannot be released to third parties.

Status Enquiries

Unfortunately, due to considerable staff shortages, visa applications are currently taking longer to process. The Embassy and the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin are aware of the restrictions and the effects on applicants and are endeavouring to eliminate them as soon as possible. The Embassy apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.

As a matter of principle, no enquiries regarding the status of an application will be answered during the regular processing time.

You can find the standard processing times on our homepage under your visa category. As soon as a processing result is available, you will be informed without further enquiry. We kindly ask you to refrain from making enquiries about the status of your application until then and thank you for your patience.

Appointment Booking and Waiting Times

Appointments are free of charge! It is not possible to be received without a prior appointment!

Appointment registrations can be made by anyone on our homepage. Please note that registration in our appointment waiting system does not constitute a visa application. Information on appointment registration can be found here.

All applicants need an appointment to enter the German Consular Service.

Currently, there are increased waiting times due to considerable demand. The Embassy as well as the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin are aware of the restrictions and effects on applicants and are endeavouring to eliminate them as soon as possible. The Embassy apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.

Information on current waiting times can be found here. The appointment waiting times published on the homepage are approximate and non-binding and are published to improve customer service.

Error while registering for an appointment? Please cancel your appointment. After three months you will be able to register again in the appointment system. This blocking period cannot be shortened. When registering, please always check that you have entered your data correctly.

Appeal Procedure (Remonstrationsverfahren)

With the decision on the visa application, the processing is completed. Further processing is only possible if an appeal is filed or a new application is submitted. Information on the appeal procedure (Remonstrationsverfahren) can be found here. Please note that an e-mail does not meet the formal requirements for a remonstration.

If you make a payment, you will always receive a receipt for your payment. Non-official Payments do not support or accelerate the processing of your application in any way. If you are asked to make non official payments, klick here to contact the Embassy immediately. Your report will be treated with strict confidence.
